Sustainability commitment

This page explains what our products are made of, how they are certified, and what we can and cannot prove. We avoid sustainability labels that lack a measurable definition. Everything below maps to documentation a procurement team or auditor can verify.

100 percent fibre, single material

Our pallets and protective packaging are moulded from recycled paper and cardboard fibre. No plastic stringers, no foam inserts, no metal staples, no resin coatings. The product is one material end-to-end, which is the precondition for clean recycling.

This matters because mixed-material packaging fails recycling sorting almost everywhere in Europe. A pallet that is 95 percent paper and 5 percent plastic is treated as residual waste in most municipal and industrial waste streams. Single-material removes that risk.

PAP21 disposal coding

Every pallet carries the PAP21 recycling code, the European designation for non-corrugated cardboard. PAP21 streams into standard paper recycling at any waste contractor in the EU. There is no separate collection, no exemption fee, no special handling. End-of-life cost for the receiver is the same as a cardboard box.

FSC chain of custody

Our manufacturing partner Buhl-Paperform GmbH holds FSC chain-of-custody certification. The recycled and virgin fibre content is traced from input to finished pallet. On request we provide the FSC certificate number and batch documentation for receiving customers who need it for their own supply-chain reporting.

We do not claim every pallet is FSC-labelled unless your order is specifically produced under that label, since FSC-mix requirements need to be confirmed per production run.

ISPM-15 exempt

ISPM-15 is the international phytosanitary standard for wood packaging in non-EU export. It mandates heat treatment or fumigation of solid wood pallets to kill insect larvae. Moulded fibre pallets are exempt because they contain no untreated solid wood. The fibre is processed at high temperature during forming, which is documented in the production record.

For exporters this means no IPPC stamp, no treatment certificate, no border holds for missing documentation. See the dedicated ISPM-15 page for the regulatory detail.

CSRD and scope 3 reporting

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive requires large EU companies to disclose scope 3 emissions, which include upstream transportation, distribution, and end-of-life treatment of sold products. Packaging sits inside two of those categories.

We help customers fill that data gap in three ways. First, we provide weight-per-SKU and material-composition data sheets so emission factors can be applied accurately. Second, we share life-cycle assessment summaries from our manufacturer for the standard footprints. Third, we issue annual delivery reports per customer account, suitable for inclusion in CSRD-aligned procurement records.

This is not legal or assurance advice. It is data we can put on the table.

What we do not claim

We do not claim our pallets are carbon-negative, carbon-neutral, or climate-positive. Those terms have no consistent definition in current EU regulation and we do not stamp them on invoices.

We do not claim that switching from wood to fibre is always lower-emission. Wood from regional FSC sources, reused twenty times, will outperform a single-trip fibre pallet on most LCA models. Where fibre wins is one-way export, weight-sensitive freight, and ISPM-15-affected routes. We are explicit about that.

We do not claim biodegradability in marine or natural environments. The pallets are designed for industrial recycling, not for composting or landfill decomposition assumptions.

Plastic, foam, blends

None of our products contain virgin plastic, expanded polystyrene foam, polyethylene film bonded to the pallet, or composite blends. If your spec needs a plastic component for moisture resistance beyond what fibre alone provides, we will tell you that fibre is the wrong choice, not engineer a workaround that breaks the single-material principle.

Documentation on request

For active accounts we supply, on request: FSC certificate copy, PAP21 disposal statement, ISPM-15 exemption letter, weight and dimension data sheets, manufacturer LCA summary, and annual purchase-volume reports.
